MASON ROLE

Role: Rachel’s Father / Genomic Profile: Tiny Dollman

Key Facts: Mason is Rachel’s father, as well as Emily’s husband. Like his wife, Mason served in the Victory Pact during the Vixmite Invasion, and returned to civilian life after the war. He subsequently joined the Public Protection Bureau, where he holds the rank of Detective Sergeant in the Reduced-Offender division, investigating crimes committed by Reduced. His job includes interviewing victims and profiling any potential suspects.

Mason lost his parents in the R-Virus Outbreak and Vixmite Invasion, and was estranged from his brother Logan after joining the Victory Pact. However, thanks to the efforts of their respective wives, the brothers have since reconciled. Outside of family, Mason is often found hanging out with friends, both from his current job and his previous service.

Personality: Mason is a calm and easy-going man, who always endeavours to be the voice of reason and to mitigate any conflicts that arise between his children and other family and friends. He tends to brush off his frustrations and worries with humour, but this can lead to him bottling up emotions and sometimes causes misunderstandings.

Interaction with Unaffected: Married to Emily, Mason has a generally good impression of Unaffected. That said, he’s well aware that some Unaffected can be dangerous and does take caution around those he doesn’t know. Despite this caution his luck around Unaffected is notoriously bad, and Mason consistently finds himself unknowingly (or sometimes knowingly) being squished by his Unaffected family members and others.

Relationship with Rachel: When he isn’t working or stuck somewhere, Mason enjoys spending time with his kids and attempting to impart to them some fatherly wisdom. Rachel is no exception to this, and he frequently tries to give her advice about life and love, which is not always gratefully received. The two have a fairly good relationship.


WADE ROLE

Role: Rachel’s Brother / Genomic Profile: Micro Dollman

Key Facts: Rachel’s older brother, the oldest child of the Role family, and the only Micro in the family. Wade works as a freelance programmer, generally setting his own hours and working enough to make a living. He has no intention of moving out of the family home and seldom even leaves his own room, preferring his own company over that of others.

Personality: Wade is a disgruntled young man with a chip on his shoulder due to feeling that his status as a Micro has inherently made his life harder through no fault of his own. He’s generally unpleasant to most people and prefers dealing with his clients at arm’s length. Despite this, he still loves and values his family deep down, keeping him at home. Wade does want to find love, but due to wanting a wife his own size, options are limited.

Interaction with Unaffected: Due to being a Micro, Wade frequently finds himself the unintended victim of inattentive Unaffected whenever he interacts with them, which has certainly soured his view of Unaffected in general. While it would be inaccurate to say that he hates Unaffected, he does go out of his way to avoid them, and if it wasn’t for his family would happily move into a Sanctuary City in order to be away from them for good.

Relationship with Rachel: Wade is a little closer to Rachel than his other sisters due to them being more proximate in size, though he would still prefer to avoid direct interaction since he’s the only family member small enough for Rachel to accidentally squish. In the past, Emily often sent Rachel to collect Wade for meals, though both have largely given up on that for now, and instead Wade is left to his own devices to make an appearance.


TAYLOR ROLE

Key Facts: Taylor is Rachel’s younger brother, the second youngest of the Role siblings. Rather than going to university he decided to go full-time at the local SamBurgers, with his main job being on the assembly line putting the various ingredients together. He is putting in extra work of late with the goal of being promoted to the Assistant Manager.

Personality: Taylor is an adventurous and somewhat reckless young man who often gets himself in trouble due to his own risk-taking behaviour. He also has a tendency to make jokes at the expense of others, and has even peeping tom behaviour in the past (though more as an adventure than genuine perversion). Taylor is still capable of being serious when needed though, and more recently has started to moderate his behaviour.

Interaction with Unaffected: Fearless, Taylor’s pranks and risk-taking have gotten him on the wrong side of Unaffected more than once. His relationship with his girlfriend of one year, Jametta Carter, has assisted him with managing his behaviour as of late, and he does genuinely value the relationship. Not that it has erased the mistakes of his past.

Relationship with Rachel: Growing up, it was often Rachel’s responsibility to try, and often fail, to reign in Taylor’s more problematic behaviours, more than once resulting in her getting in trouble alongside him. Though he did occasionally resent it when Rachel succeeded in ruining his fun, Taylor does love his big sis for always looking out for him.


MIYOKO AKI

Key Facts: Miyoki is Rachel’s adoptive aunt. Orphaned during the Vixmite Invasion, she briefly accompanied Mason and Logan Role before being separated from them. She was then found by Emily Parker (now Emily Role) and eventually adopted by her, though the two treat each other as sisters. She was a member of the Role household in Rachel’s childhood but moved out following her marriage to her Micro husband, Nathan Grant.

Miyoki works as a personal trainer at UltraGym, where she attends to both Unaffected and Tiny clients. She formerly worked with Micros as well, but was removed from the course following a series of incidents. Miyoko also volunteers with the Luminous group.

Personality: Miyoki is a kind and loving woman, who is obsessed with anything that she finds to be cute. Her home is full of many BosomBuddies and other cute things, and she becomes easily distracted when absorbed in her hobbies. Once she becomes attached she will almost never let a new cute find go, insisting on adding it to her own collection.

Interaction with Tinies: Both of Miyoko’s parents were Tinies, and she considered it to be her duty to protect Tinies and other Reduced, haunted by the idea that she could have done more to save her parents. Despite this, she frequently underestimates her own size and strength in comparison to Tinies, and is a bit of a clutz in general, leading to frequent accidents. She is also notably attracted to Tinies, finding their size adorable, though even more attracted to the even smaller Micros, including her husband Nathan.

Relationship with Rachel: Miyoko loves all her nieces and nephews dearly, including Rachel. She frequently expresses her affection towards Rachel both emotionally and physically, though this does not always end well for her Tiny niece. Despite incidents that have occurred in the past, Miyoko’s love for Rachel is unwavering and mutual, and it remains common for the two to catch up, with or without the rest of the Role family.


NATHAN GRANT

Role: Rachel’s Uncle / Genomic Profile: Micro Dollman

Key Facts: Miyoko’s husband, and by extension Rachel’s honorary uncle. Nathan was originally one of Wade’s few close friends before falling in love with Miyoko. He used to work freelance with Wade, but after his marriage their friendship deteriorated, and he has switched to a full-time position with the entertainment company LootBox Entertainment.

Personality: Raised almost exclusively by his big sister, Nathan is a conscientious and studious young man who commits himself equally to work and to his loved ones. On the other hand, he is also a hopeless flirt who spent much of his teenage years and his early adulthood hitting on various women, though usually managing to keep it respectful. This has changed after he met and fell in love with Miyoko, now the sole target of his affection.

Interaction with Unaffected: Nathan tends to insist that he doesn’t care about sizes and likes everyone equally. This is mostly true, though the exception is that he is specifically attracted to Unaffected, particularly older women, due in part to a complex involving his sister. His resultant attempts to woe Miyoko were complicated by her concerns due to their difference in size and age gap, but having achieved success in love he is on cloud nine. Though he doesn’t intend to, he can still come across as flirtatious to Unaffected.

Relationship with Rachel: Although Nathan would technically be considered Rachel’s uncle, their similarity in age means that they don’t see each other this way, and are simply on mildly friendly terms. In truth Rachel sees him only rarely, as even when Miyoko visits Nathan is usually either not present, or present but hidden somewhere on Miyoko’s body.


SOFIA PARKER

Role: Rachel’s Aunt / Genomic Profile: Unaffected

Key Facts: Sofia is Emily’s older sister and Rachel’s aunt. Like Emily she served in the Victory Pact during the Vixmite Invasion and retired following the end of the hostilities. Unlike Emily, she did not start a family and instead joined the Earth Restoration Agency. She has since risen to an executive role in the agency, and is a dedicated career woman.

Sofia lives with and cares for her mother Amina, though unlike Amina retains a close relationship with Emily as well. Alongside Emily, Amina is close with their former Victory Pact squadmates, and is more often than not invited to family events for the Role family.

Personality: Stern and aloof, Sofia is well known at the ERA for her unwillingness to accept failures, either by herself or her colleagues. Though often considered to be cold, she does have a soft-side for those she cares about, and is not incapable of changing her mind. Despite this hidden side, she will not hesitate to punish those who fail her.

Interaction with Tinies: Sofia is not fond of either men nor Tinies in general, and would prefer if both were kept away from her, but tolerates those she has to deal with at work. This stems mostly from an early childhood with a father who was physically abusive before the R-Virus diminished him in size, though her subsequent interactions with Tinies have also generally led her to conclude they are not worth her time or attention.

Relationship with Rachel: For the most part, Sofia considers her own family members to be an exception regarding her general attitude towards Tinies, particularly her sister’s children. While she is not particularly close to Rachel, she is closer to her than she is to either Wade or Taylor, and does invite Rachel as well when she wants to spend time with her nieces. She has never deliberately harmed or punished Rachel, but this is partially due to Rachel being careful not to annoy her. It’s unclear exactly where her limits lie.


AMINA PARKER

Key Facts: Amina is Emily’s mother and Rachel’s grandmother, though the two have had only limited contact. Like her daughters she joined the Victory Pact during the Vixmite Invasion, though in her case in a supporting role. She retired following the end of the conflict, and now devotes her time to advocating for the Women’s New Social Union.

Having become estranged from Emily due to opposing her marriage, Amina has only limited contact with the Role family, and has only met her grandchildren a few times.

Personality: Amina has a harsh personality, generally taking a negative attitude towards anyone who has not proven themselves to be up to her exacting standards. A tendency to assume the worst about people results in her having few friends, though she seems unbothered by this, choosing to associate mainly with those who share her prejudices.

Interaction with Tinies: Owing largely to having endured over a decade with an abusive husband whom her father pressured her to marry, Amina has a strong dislike for men which she extends by default to all Tinies and other Reduced. Though she sometimes takes the time to differentiate between male and female Tinies, this is often not the case, and all equally face her ire. As far as Amina is concerned Unaffected should have total control of the UTC, with Tinies relegated to roles serving the Unaffected populace.

Relationship with Rachel: Having had limited contact with Rachel, the relationship between Amina and her granddaughter is complicated to say the least. On the one hand, Amina continues to advocate for the dissolution of Tiny rights, despite the impact this would have on her own grandchildren. On the other hand, she has expressed to Emily on several occasions that she would like to be closer to her granddaughters, and has including Rachel in this. To date, Emily has resisted allowing for such contact.


LOGAN ROLE

Key Facts: Mason’s older brother and Rachel’s uncle. Logan accompanied his brother during the early stages of the Vixmite Invasion, including when they travelled together with Midori. The two brothers were later separated when Logan obtained refuge in an early Sanctuary City, while Mason chose to join the Victory Pact. Logan lives with his family in a Sanctuary City, though can occasionally be persuaded to visit his brother.

Personality: Logan is a reserved and taciturn man, who can come across to others as stern, though in truth merely struggles to openly express his emotions. He cares about his family and regrets not having the courage in the past to fight alongside his brother.

Interaction with Unaffected: Logan is not comfortable around Unaffected, and prefers to stay in his Sanctuary City to avoid interacting with them as much as possible. Despite this he does not dislike Unaffected on an individual level and is perfectly able to be civil towards them. He just prefers that their interactions occur at a suitably safe distance.

Relationship with Rachel: Logan tries to have a good relationship with Rachel, as with all of his brother’s children, though he does hesitate to get too close to Lilian or Gabby. As Rachel is close with her sisters this sometimes puts some distance between them.


ISIDORA ROLE

Key Facts: Logan’s wife and Rachel’s aunt. Her family lives in the same Sanctuary City as Logan and the two met and fell in love as teenagers. She was the main driving force behind Logan and Mason reconciling and remains keen on strengthening their bonds. She runs a small clothing store in the city centre, but does most of her business online. Recently, she is trying to convince Logan that they should move closer to his brother.

Personality: Isidora is a fun-loving and adventurous woman who has always felt a little stifled by the protective enclosure of her Sanctuary City home. As a young woman she wanted to explore the world, but her affection for Logan convinced her to stay and build a family together. She has a lot of love in her heart and is notably quick to trust others.

Interaction with Unaffected: Having spent essentially her entire life in a Sanctuary City, Isidora has little experience dealing with Unaffected, which can easily lead her to exercise a lack of caution around them when they do interact. Since Tiny women are rare she often feels more of a kinship with Unaffected than she does most other Tinies.

Relationship with Rachel: Isidora is keen to build a strong relationship with her nieces, and when visiting often tries to take all three of them out for shopping and other trips. While this sometimes results in misfortunes for herself and Rachel she means well, and Rachel appreciates her efforts. Rachel sometimes also visits her in the Sanctuary City.


OSKAR ROLE

Role: Rachel’s Cousin / Genomic Profile: Tiny Dollman

Key Facts: Rachel’s cousin, the son of Logan and Isidora. Oskar is an only child who has lived his whole life in the Sanctuary City he calls home, only leaving when forced to. He helps out his mother in running her clothing store, and has a talent for spotting trends.

Personality: Oskar is a shy and withdrawn young man, who prefers his own company and the fictional world of books. He is able to socialise but isn’t interested in making friends. He can sometimes come across as creepy due to his habit of staring, but it’s usually due to him imagining other people as characters in the stories that he reads.

Interaction with Unaffected: Oskar is afraid of Unaffected, having had little exposure to them as a child, and what exposure he did have often ending badly. He has no issues communicating with them online, and doesn’t have any personal vendetta, but he’d like it if he never had to meet another Unaffected in person, or so he claims. Despite this he is also attracted to Unaffected, disliking himself for it but unable to resist their allure.

Relationship with Rachel: Oskar and Rachel are not particularly close, having only met in person a couple of times, and otherwise interacting rarely. Recently, Oskar has seen some pictures of Rachel’s girlfriend, Dawn, and has become utterly captivated by her.
