And lived in five cities
These are my favorite cities

Berkeley

I grew up in Berkeley
Still my spiritual home land
Dreaming I may still return

My favorite coffee shop
Peets still brewing up
The best coffee

The campus and Telegraph
And Dwight Street
Where is always the 60s

Stockton

Where I went to college
A Central Valley town
Sort of Ohio in California

Seattle

Where I went to graduate school
Home of Starbucks
And so much more

Medford, Oregon

Where I have been going
Every few years
To check on our properties
Still thinking I might retire there

Alexandria, Virginia

Where I spent much of my time
In between foreign assignments
The heart of the American Empire
And well, it feels almost like home

And I am returning there
Next year
Perhaps for good.
