Fictional poem about how writing can be a thrill

The Special Pen

Once upon a time there was a girl named Joan
Who was given a pen that could write on its own
One day It decided to have some fun
And help a young lady who was considered ‘dumb’

The girl sat in her class, tears fighting,
She looked around at other children writing.
Then to her surprise the pen in her hand
Started to write a story grand.

She read with interest the words appearing
How her little heart was cheering!
Then the pen stopped but the girl wrote on
It was like her ‘dumbness’ had suddenly gone.

Now she was engrossed in writing her story
A tale of bravery and glory
How had she never done this before?
It was like the special pen had unlocked a door.

In front of the class, her story she read
The teacher amazed, scratching his head
Said: Joan, I didn’t know you were so clever
Well done! This is the best story ever!

Joan was so happy she didn’t know what to do
She looked at her pen and whispered thank you!
The girl who had struggled was now a high-flyer
A rising star, not just a trier!
