a girl who regrets opening up to someone

I watched the light fade from your eyes
the love in your heart die

I've witnessed you observe my inadequacies
And decide that they weren't enough to make you leave

I've sat and listened
Slept and hugged
Done more favors
Then i would ever ask for repayance

I allowed myself to learn love
I learned how to be soft

I believed i was safe
Being held by gentle hands
Ones that would not drop me
Not a girl made of glass

Somewhere between now and then
Those gentle hands turned calloused

The tiny things that never bothered you
Resulted in your silence
Months. Of. silence.
A tiny crack in the girl of glass.

The same way you no longer produced warmth
The comfort of a hug was gone
The softness started fading
Edges turned sharper

Edges that began cutting into your callouses
Until you let me fall

Shattering the glass girl that's covered in your blood into pieces.
