A brief observation of the people I work with. |
Here I sit, among these free feeding Spiritual Vampires. They’re merely looking for ways for themselves to benefit from someone else. The amount of money I get paid for the meaningless work I do does not, in anyway, compensate for the anguish and loathing that I experience everyday. What is a spiritual vampire, you ask? A creature that was never mentioned when we were children, sure we heard about boogey men and other monsters of the night, but we were never informed about these creatures that haunt us in days of our adult lives. A much more dangerous inhabitant than those frequented by fairly tales. Lack of empathy and common human interests are the cause for these hollow hearted beings who lurk around every corner, freely in the bright of day, worse than any villain or monster cooked up by Hollywood, worse because these creatures exist in our everyday lives. Garlic and crosses don’t do anything for these vampires. Ignoring them is the one thing that actually pains them, bruises their egos, but not to worry, they'll just wander off and find someone else to listen to their stories. Spiritual vampires of course converse the best with their own kind. They just play off of each others stories, not really paying attention, just enough where they can relate with a story of their own. About, you’ve guessed it, them! Everyone interacts with an SV at some stage in their adult lives, whether they know it or not is a different story. Most times if you’re walking away from the conversation shaking your head and wondering what the hell happened, you’ve just had an encounter with what I refer to as a “Spiritual Vampire”, never able to keep a conversation going, unless it's about them. No matter what the topic, a true spiritual vampire can always turn the topic to what they would have done, or a similar situation that involved them. It's what they do best. Even if you have a problem and they appear to want to help, all that will come of it is, them, half listening, nodding their heads and then totally changing the subject to something more engaging, something that doesn’t depress them or make them uncomfortable. They are real and sometimes easily recognizable, other times they blend in. You might never see them coming, but in most cases if you have read this and don’t have the smallest idea what I'm taking about, then it's pretty obvious....I'm talking about you |
