Flowers in the Morning By: Casey Allison Crumby Flowers in the Morning are my favorite thing To see when I wake up from a sweet sleepy dream Flowers, flowers, here and there and everywhere Outside my window, in my vase, and in my pretty hair Purple ones are mostly my favorite, but I also like blue For blue flowers remind me of my mother June My mother June is the most beautiful mother ever I love her more than anything and I will forever She always puts flowers in her hair everyday That’s why I put them in my hair, exactly her way Her favorites were always white flowers, and she’d put them behind her ears She said they made her happy, and chased away all her fears Red flowers always make her want to sing to the clear blue skies While she sits thinking in the garden, because she is very wise My mother June always says that yellow flowers make her want to smile Yellow flowers always make her want spring to stay for a longer while Pink flowers are so very lovely, as my mother June likes to say She says they remind her of beautiful things she sees from day to day Like birds in flight, sunlight, babies laughing, and colorful winds Fireflies, moonlight, sleeping children, and all her favorite friends Purple flowers make her think of the sun when it goes down And stars come out to brightly shine all over the sleeping town Blue flowers, my mother June says, always brings her peace She loves the serenity they offer, and the stress that they release My mother gathers all the colors of her favorite flowers And puts them in a vase at a very early hour Then she tiptoes in my room so that when I wake I will see Flowers in the morning to give me smiles and glee But my mother, June, she never forgets to place A few flowers in my hair and around my sleeping face So when I wake, the petals are all around me Around me room, everywhere I can see I love my mother’s flowers in the morning that are always smiling back at me I always dream about flowers in the morning that greet me so beautifully |
