Acrostic Poem for the 13 Poetic Days of Halloween Contest 2025

Tis true the Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Has a very spooky vibe
Eerie is the murky, foggy tale

Long ago did this saga come to be
Ever does the legend persist
Gory as it is
Everyone (almost) knows this famous chiller
Nothing quite like the lore of the
Dead head but animated body of the Horseman

Over the lands he rides
Far does he gallop

Sounds of purposeful trots
Letting all know he is near
Eking out fear from those around
Ever the folklore of his ride will
Persist as time marches on
Years and years from now

How Ichabod Crane got a good scare
On a creepy, haunting night
Leaves a feeling of fright
Loons cry through the mist
Out waiting again for The Headless Horeseman's ride
Wailing all the while
