Having someone go missing and never having closure is a heartbreaking experience

They said time softens heartbreak,
but time has only grown
this hollow space you left behind—
a place I’ve never known.

Your name hangs in the doorway,
your shadow on the wall,
and every quiet corner
still whispers when I call.

The world keeps turning forward,
but mine stays stuck that day—
the moment you went missing
and everything slipped away.

There’s no grave where I can lay
the roses meant for you,
no answers for the questions
that cut my heart in two.

Hope is its own burden—
a light that flickers thin,
burning me with “maybe”
every time I breathe you in.

Still I search in every sunrise,
in every face I meet,
for the hint of you returning,
for the echo of your feet.

This grief is shaped like absence,
a wound without an end,
the tragedy of losing
someone I can’t defend.

But I hold on to your memory,
to the love that doesn’t fade—
because even if you’re missing,
your presence still remains.

In the spaces, in the silence,
in the prayers I still recall—
you’re gone but not forgotten,
not lost to me at all.
