The presence and absence of love, love! Love is the fuel that moves the universe.

‘LOVING A GHOST’

The crater, the enormous void in her soul

Left by the cataclysm of life

That absence of love, clear in any real thing

The only true love received from her pets

Then not able to hear and see love

And now the vague recognisance from times past

And he, too, had gone, or never been there

An illusion that hurt more than if it had been real

The only thing she truly wanted and never had

The shadow of it, staring into her eyes, dead, by now

The saddest story being the quiet tragedy of this non-life

This limbo, waiting for the ride to be over,

What is happening to me?

The confusion, and the anger and the loneliness

Of that, and the tears and questions –

He had gone. Or never been there.

There was no story to tell, because it was all played

In mind sensations, words no one could hear,

Energies no one could see, but her

And she doubted herself if this year had been a time

Of madness- he had gone, cruel punishment

All you gave, my love, always meant to be taken away.
