Choosing Folly
The waves of you, unyielding at my shore
as if to poke and pester me to bend,
reminding me what common sense is for;
my half-baked heart you seek to apprehend.

As if to poke and pester me to bend,
you batter, pushing crash and pulling plea.
My half-baked heart you seek to apprehend;
erosion on the shrinking beach of me.

You batter, pushing crash and pulling plea
relentless, your exposure of my flaws:
erosion of this shrinking beach of me;
I fear the sin implied in your applause.

Relentless, your exposure of my flaws,
reminding me what common sense is for;
I fear the sin implied in your applause -
the waves of you, unyielding at my shore.
