Sleep

Without it I die victim beneath the day who dumbs me down
though darkness drags to the dawn, dawdling, bored,
watching me dispassionately; I am deadened - and awake.

Satellite

Earth round sun, moon round the earth
fanatic pacts of orbiting
Electron and nucleus
know how it feels, this runaround;
obsession, immaculately
kept in order by the gods.
