May 2022 Prompt #16

GOOD NEWS - I go back to work at the golf course Monday morning.
BAD NEWS - I go back to work at the golf course Monday morning.
I plot like The Grinch to prevent Monday from coming and fail weekly.

PROMPT:Do you grumble about Mondays? Do you have a 'Worst Monday EVER' story? What are your best/worst days of the week?

I don't have a Worst Monday ever story, but a recent worst Monday is last week. I was puttering. Grumbling because our remodeling is stagnating, starting to stink like an old fish or a visitor who won't leave. It's not moving. So as a result, my home sweet home is collecting dust and dirt. I cannot clean. But I can tidy where I can. Upstairs, away from the sawdust and endless collection of tools, screws, batteries for tools. You get the picture.

So I think I can easily place this artsy-fartsy colored glass-faux stained glass window under a bungee cord at my west-facing window upstairs. I also falsely assume I can place this window, and it's large, mind you, under this bungee cord easily without removing said bungee cord. Easy-peasy. You already know what happens, don't you.

Okay, fine. Here goes. The bungee cord is under tension, it comes 'twanging' off the hook. It hits me in the forehead and in the cheek. It misses my eye, thanks be to God. Now mind you, I have metal plates in my forehead from my brain surgery. So when that evil Satan-cord hit me, it was like ringing a bell. I yelped, but of course, no one could hear me because hubby is outside, fidddling with something remodeling related. I grab a clean rag, wet it with cold water and hit the bed. Holy cow.

In minutes, I look like someone socked me a good one in the eye. I have a real shiner. I am dizzy still from the knock on the noggin where that metal plate takes the place of my skull.

So, that's my worst Monday in a long time. The bruise has resolved nicely. I'm on meds for the dizziness for a spell. I saw my neurologist today. We're old friends and get along nicely. He showed me old MRI pictures of the original brain tumor from 2013. Then showed me the recent CT scan I had done a few days ago after this incident. The best compliment a neurologist can give his patient? Well, he gave me one. "Look at your brain. Wow, what a great looking brain." Ha. I love it.
