A lonely old man
Was walking in the hills
Near his house
Encountering mocking birds
Mocking him, chasing him

1845 - Edgar Allan Poe's “The Raven” was published. The narrative poem first appeared in the New York Evening Mirror.

1929 - Morris Frank, himself blind, founded The Seeing Eye in Nashville, TN, a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of blind people through the use of specially trained Seeing Eye® dogs.

1963 - Robert Frost, an American poet, died. He won the Pulitzer Prize four times, and also recited a poem during JFK's inauguration ceremony.
