A Taste of Autumn
Clear blue skies chilled with a crisp bite,
harvested hay
all put away,
shadows fall long in autumn's light.
In suburbia, colours glow -
oranges, brown,
reds tumble down
to pool along the fence lines, though
the bush with native evergreens
a constant sight,
leaves dark and bright,
kauri, rimu, familiar scenes.
In Wanaka, warbirds take flight,
tear 'cross the skies,
drawing all eyes,
the field of planes a stunning sight.
