Make my mother lunch day?
For real? I try when I visit her in Ohio on occasion. But if anyone can live on white bread and white sugar, she can. She is now in her 90's. I try to live a healthy life, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, no bread, no dairy, and no fried foods. And I get the evil eye when I try to get her to eat a salad.

I cannot remember my mother fixing me a lunch. I'm sure she maybe did back in the day of packed school lunches. Perhaps bologna and a cookie? I know there were hot lunches, but I never had the money to buy one. Back before the days of free lunches, people.

So I guess I learned to cook and enjoy food in spite of what we ate at home. The same food week after week. You could tell what day it was by what was for supper. Sort of boring. And perhaps that is why I like to watch cooking shows.

Such wonderful food yet to be tried.
