This Is High School
October 14, 2002

I haven't done this in a while, but I'm actually
adding to my journal at a decent time, when normal
people are awake. I just got back from school.
Things have been going pretty swell lately.
Classes aren't too demanding, things are mostly laid
back. I've got a lot of work to do on the revamp of my
friend and I's website, DrisChris.com. Other than that,
things around the house are boring.
The one thing that really calls any attention is
today at lunch. I was sitting where I usually do,
amongst my friends at our table. It was nice, good
lunch (taco salad things), good conversation, good
times, great oldies. My friend across from me
mentioned a game we'd played the night before. The
Corvette then goes, "Are you guys talking about video
games? This is high school." Basically just said we
were really immature. I was thrown into defense mode.
To make a long story short, she totally blew up at me,
accused me of always making fun of her everyday, and
just left the table. Things simmered down a bit as
everyone murmured amongst themselves. I'd have
gone after her to talk, but she went into the women's
restroom. A female friend went to talk to her instead.
Analyzing the situation, I never say anything
about her, good or bad, because I'm afraid she'll hate
me. Her claims that I make fun of her everyday are just
wild, and I have no idea where she got them. And
she'd played video games with us before as well. I
really think it was about something else. I think she had
a lot of anger and just had to let it out. When the person
who went into the restroom to talk to her came back,
she said she was just washing her hands over and over
again, just really angry.
I tried to talk to her in the halls, but she just gave
me the cold shoulder. So I spent the next hour writing
an essay about how sorry I was. Another female friend
said it was probably "that time of the month". Probably
so.
Well, I'm not going to hold anything personally.
I know I probably should have cooled it, too, but I was
being pretty defensive at a comment that I thought was
pretty unfair and rude. Well, she took my letter and said
she'd read it, and there was a lot in there that I kinda
wanted to say anyway, so it'll all be well in the end.
On a related note, just after getting home, my
mother did the same thing. Twilight Zone.
Time to wrap things up. Today's recommended
listening isn't really serious, just kind of funny. The
song is She Hates Me by Puddle of Mudd.
Warning, it has some naughty words. Anywho,
goodbye.
