Dreams Can Kill You 1995
As real as they may seem,
they are only dreams.
Reality in depth,
dreams into death.

Joy during light,
fear owns the night.
Truth comes with dawn,
still the night rages on.

Morning is on it's way,
dreams begin turning gray.
Rising to your feet,
feeling the morning heat.

Cold steel touches your head,
the gun fires, you are dead.
Shot while you slept,
the weapon he kept.

No suspects at this time,
says the chief as he flips a dime.
What a cowardly way to kill,
cover her up, Phil.

You can deny it's true,
but dreams can kill you.

Note: (October 11, 2018) This, obviously, was another poem I wrote around the same time I wrote touch me not, leave me be and "Untitled" 1995. I believe it was written a few days later. This one is not one I much care for. The darkness of the other poems must have lifted, as this one, though not sunny, is definitely not as dark as the others.
