FLICKERING CANDLE
FLICKERING CANDLE

[Likening the life to the candle, slowly melting away]

Wretched life of a candle,
Slowly wasting away!
I live at others’ mercy.
I cannot have my way.

A gush of wind can kill me,
Or a mere wave of hand.
The flapping of a night bird,
Even, I cannot stand.

My warmth is not for others,
I have rather ill fame.
Many a moth has lost their
Tender wings in my flame.

But still I am contented,
I flicker at His feet.
Though my end is now near,
I’ll die in bliss complete.
