"Untitled"
Among the willows and twine,
Past the dying weeds,
A person sits and cries,
Away all her horrible deeds.
A murder, a knife,
A scream in the night.
"We will find her," they say,
"And do what's right."
Cold emptiness rushes over her,
Darkness settles within her.
Hidden in the death and dark,
The willow leaves begin to wither.
Hidden in the death and dark,
Alone, afraid, lost.
Tears streaming down her dirty face,
She never knew there would be such a cost,
For putting things right.
"I had to kill him,"
She whispers to nobody.
"If I hadn't he would have killed me."
She rises, suddenly ready,
To return and confess her crime.
To die inside as she would have,
Outside if she hadn't killed,
Her lover.
