Old grey tom

People do not kill the old grey tom; the mean just wish him dead while others want him lost or out of sight and mind. The kind put out a dish of soured milk.

But kicked at, yelled at, scowled at, shunned, he becomes suspicious of even them. Slinking past cold shadowed death, he yet survives.

looks at the moon
both waning tonight
