White-folks-don't-dance. Sympathy at Seven.
White-folks-don't-dance.

The Sympathy at Seven, conducted by Draco Butorac, performed at Caras Park on a cool Sunday night. Quite a mix of music from Finlandia to Oklahoma!.

A section included music that could easily be danced to: Oblivion by Piazzola is a slow tango, Dance of the Hours (Ponchielli) is a ballet complete with a can-can while Amado Mio (Roberts/Fisher) is a rumba. Did anyone get up and dance? Ha! ...bunch of white-folk...

Part of Dance of the Hours from Fantasia (wouldn't embed):

Oooooh, the following is what I wanted to see in Missoula. I've met folks who were heavy set and twinkle toed. Would've made my day!

Keeping to Fantasia, this is Smile dk "Butterfly" to the video of the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Faeries". I happen to like it. *Smile*

However, others don't. At YouTube this gets 4 stars out of 5 and some scathing comments that are then rated plus or minus.

This rating system may be okay for YouTube and may even be a good thing here at WdC but personally I don't want my plogs or my personal journal rated viciously and that is what happens on-line... just so you know...

Anyhoo. One of the Missoula Symphony's members was retiring after 54 years so they did a Michael Jackson tribute at the end. *Smile* A couple folks shaked their booty, but as I said... white-folk... *Rolleyes*

Me and Myrt squiggled, sang and smirked where we sat though.

Sympathy at Seven

We transported ourselves to Finland
under an icy Russian glare,
engaged them at the winter's dusk,
whispered freedom beneath the trumpets blare.

We entered the abode of flax-haired daughters,
this forest of moody pines and fears.
We tasted the sweet release of dammed-up waters.
Felt the weight of oppression disappear.

Spirit unites.
Religion divides.
Mankind sits on the fence.

Found a whole bunch of short-shorts from Oklahoma (2003) I can use in a Sushi booklet this Autumn. *Smile* Perhaps I used some already? *Confused* Must look in my archives here at WdC. These are from before I joined, but I may have put some of them on line; there are over 120... just at a glance.
