My Bad Day
Dementia is a horrible thing to watch your parent try to cope with.

My Bad Day

My day started early,
Your screams penetrated my dreams.

Bad dreams as vivid as reality
Altered your perceptions so that nothing makes sense
Disrupting the quiet peaceful night.

Disoriented, disjointed from the actuality
Alone, inside your mind you sit
Yowling and longing for what I cannot give.
