The March 30, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum" is It's Spring in the northern hemisphere, and traditionally time for spring cleaning! Is there anything in your life that needs to be cleaned up or cleaned out? Where do I begin with my spring cleaning binge? What is the first thing in my life that I need to purge? I need to purge the negativity, a spiritual spring cleaning is necessary, required for a prosperous and a joyous New Year. Naw-Ruz is past, Ridvan approaches, I need to stop and take a deep spiritual breath; I need to inhale the fresh aroma wafting from the scriptures revealed by the Glory of God. I need to rid my spirit, my heart, and my thoughts of "whatever is impure or undesirable"1; physical life is too short to hold on to outdated notions and superstitions that retard my soul's progress in its journey through all the worlds of God. Spiritual cleaning is not a short bout "of excessive indulgence"2 in the elixir of life, the wine of Divine revelation; rather it is the daily practice of prayer, meditation, bringing myself to account, and once a year reestablishing my goals. Food for Thought: "O SON OF SPIRIT! My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting.
