The April 10, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum" is What is the most annoying sound you have ever heard? Some people say the most annoying sounds is the singing of birds, the barking of a dog, or the moan of a cat in season, but for me the most annoying sounds I have ever heard are the echoes of small arms fire ricocheting through Las Vegas streets at odd hours during the day or the night. All right, perhaps I have lived in the big city too long and should move back to a small town. I like the big city because I can go to a grocery store or a restaurant in the middle of the night and know I am not the only insomniac in town. Despite the fact that I find gunshots annoying and have learned to dive for cover and hug the floor when they are nearby, I am not moving back to a small town willingly. Besides, in this day and age, I am not sure that small towns are any safer then big cities when it come to crime and gunshots. I suspect crime is down in Las Vegas because I have not heard gunshots yet this year. Of course, it is not the Fourth of July. That is when you hear a lot of gunshots. People seem to think that it is all right to shot at the sky to celebrate Independence Day, which is why we do not have to worry about an extraterrestrial invasion on July 4. Too many people are discharging bullets into the air for the safety of any flying object. I am not even going to discuss the affect of gravity on the bullets falling back to earth. Thought of the Day: "All parents believe their children can do the impossible. They thought it the minute we were born, and no matter how hard we've tried to prove them wrong, they all think it about us now. And the really annoying thing is, they're probably right." - Cathy Guisewite |
