BLOG CITY – Day 231

Prompt: Annoying Habits: yours, a loved one's or just one that drives you bonkers.

I bit my nails when I am nervous. I also pick at the weak spots around my nails and find I have sore areas that bother me. I need to stop. I have gotten much better over the years, but I find I still fall back on nail biting when I feel stressed and out of control. Lately I have been feeling more anxious. Daily supply work is not the easiest thing on my system and I find when I don't get a lot of supply work my anxiety goes up.

With my nails in my mouth, I find I pick up germs easier and that in term thrumps my already weakened immune system. I need to get myself under control before the cold and flu season really takes off or I will be in for a rough ride.

Border for my personal use.

Welcome To My Reality – Week Forty – Four

1. What job do you feel you would never be able to do?

My husbands. He does shift work and his shifts are long and mind numbing. I think I would not be able to function well after putting in such a long day. He is also a mechanic. His position is one that allows him to use his talents to fix the cars that are coming off the line. I am not mechanically minded. The inside of a car engine is foreign to me, but he can easily problem solve and figure out a car's issue without too much trouble. His mind is built for logic and deduction. Problem solving is a huge part of his job as many of the more challenging electrical issues fall into his lap. He is creative, in his own way. My mind is more social in nature. I prefer working with people. Social interaction is important, but so is time to myself. I also prefer time to create and write. His job would drain me of any energy that I would need for those type of pursuits.

6. What is one object you cannot live without?

Without a doubt I would say my laptop. I am on this devise hours at a time. It has made writing so much easier - my words and stories are captured in a place that makes editing so much easier. Writing by hand is wonderful, but having to transcribe afterward is a pain in the ass.
Internet access also allows me an opportunity to connect with others whether it is on WDC or Facebook, although I will admit, WDC gets most of my time. Connecting with like minded people and being able to develop my craft is important to me. I would not be as far ahead if I had not found this connection.
It's funny because it is hard to imagine a time I did not have this devise - ten years ago. My writing was in notebooks, scattered and piled. It is still in notebooks, but I think I am more organized in my approach. I would also say my writing is now a daily thing, not an occasional thing and that make me happy.

Border for my personal use.

30 Day Blogging Challenge

Monday's focus.

Lately I have been feeling a little sluggish. Like a disconnect has worked the plug partway out but not all the way. My creativity is sputtering and sparking but not always holding firm. I get caught on ways and sit staring at the screen wondering what I was trying to say and how best to say it. I am pushing through, though. Not forcing it, just letting it happen. Another day I can come back and edit if they pieces don't make sense, but I will not turn my back on it.
I took a walk earlier to clear my head. The wind is up so the temperature is chilled and a jacket is necessary, but there are a few hard core Canadians out there in shorts (2 guys).

I have just signed on to do Poetic Explorations workshop and I am 8 weeks behind... writing 8 poems to catch up. I have done three so far this morning.
I am also doing the Thirteen Days of Halloween Challenge that just stared yesterday.
