Day 10 - 13 Days of Halloween - At All Costs
Crescent Hollow is a place off the beaten path
A path left to itself, avoided at all costs.
Crescent Hollow sits pretty in days when the sun shines bright,
But at night, particularly when the weather gets cool,
The little hamlet shrivels and odd things begin to happen.
Farmer Ahab had lost his wife, they said
A crying shame. She was such a beauty.
Hair of strawberry sunshine and a body to die for...
But then she up and left.
But on nights when the fog lifts and the moon blazes
Some say they have seen her
Seen her out in the fields
Where the crows have gathered
On her arms, stuffed with hay
Her eyes are said to glow
A piercingly cold blue... that shimmers to white
Stark and lifeless
She stands wrapped in a grey green dress
Arms outstretched
As if caught and held suspended
Between this life and the next
To see her, is to experience terrifying nightmares
To touch her.... is death
Either to you or someone in your family.
Farmer Ahad says she is gone
But we wonder
Is she really gone....
Or does she come back on these nights
To torment his soul
And drive him further into his insanity.
Nobody knows the whole story
And it is best left alone
And avoided at all costs.
