Day 13 - 13 Days of Halloween - Seance
In the dimness of the room
Lit by candles and a kerosene lamp dipped low
We gather,
Our heads bowed,
Our hands joined,
Our lips murmur our wish to visit with the dead
To bring a passed soul into our midst
To ask the questions that burn within us.
We wait,
Baited breath
Through the silence
We hear it
A vibrational hum
Then a light flickers
And grows in intensity
As we watch
Spellbound.
Who are you? we whisper
I am... Harry Houdini
The Great Illusionist.
We gasp
Then he is gone.

Houdini died on October 31, 1926 - 90 years ago today. It is well known that Houdini held a fascination with life after death. He often held seances and talked about coming back to visit friends after he died. Imagine you are holding a seance and call forth Harry Houdini. Write a poem or short story about the seance, what happens, and what Harry Houdini has to say. You can do research or you can totally make something up. But whatever you do, make it good!!!
