Bonnehomme Carnaval
Quebec Winter Carnaval:

owl for signature use

I was especially interested in the Bonnehomme Carnaval. That is the name of the mascot for the winter fun. It is a mysterious figure. It was born in 1954. Stands 7 feet tall. The joyful figure wears a large smile. It has 400 pounds of snow packed in it's figure. I'm sure it avoids thaws. The dark colored buttons down its snowy white body contrast to the whiteness of the figure. There is a red Santa type hat on it's head called a toque. The plaid sash is a cultural motive. It was originated with the Metis Culture and later was used by the French colonists. It is woven and can be used as for warmth and decoration. http://www.kikino.org/metis-culture/the-sash.php

They give the key to the city to Bonnehomme Carnaval at the start of the first day. There is some mystery surrounding the figure because it appears a few weeks before the celebration and then disappears to parts unknown until the next celebration.

I recommend muck boots because they keep out all kinds of cold. They are designed for easy treading in the deep snow. The insulation in the boots can be depended on for warm feet.

I think riding down a steep hill on a tube sled would be fun but, after the last three days I guess I would be happy sitting by a window with a hot pot of tea and some warm robust foods. Just watching others parade, shop and ride snow machines would seem fun as long as I was warm. Maybe I can drink hot cocoa with Prosperous Snow Globe and watch parades as they pass by.

I also recommend wool hats.

Keep Warm. Find good dogs for your sleds.
