Three versions of a new idea
by A Non-Existent User
So I've had a new idea for a story, or rather, three very similar ideas, and I'm wondering which I should go for.

The basic idea is an unseen monster, i.e. the main character thinks she's hearing things: breathing, something moving etc, and lies awake with horrible thoughts crowding his/her mind (everyone's been there, right) but when he/she turns on the light and inspects his/her room, there's nothing there.

Option A: This constant night-time fear changes the character. Firstly, he/she becomes snappy due to lack of sleep, but then the fear makes him/her a nervous wreck, then he/she suddenly loses their fear, and embraces the nightmares, enjoys them. He/she learns to love the night, and hate the daylight. So he/she ends up skulking in the shadows etc

Option B: He/she begins change in the same way, always talking about the nightmares, a nervous wreck. His/her family and friends' reaction is to turn on her, first through gentle ridicule, then to throw them out because they're going mad, until he/she ends up skulking in the shadows because society has rejected him/her.

Option C: Shorter version, sets up unseen monster idea, is it imagined or real? Ends with 'mosnter's' p.o.v. - is real.

I'm thinking B myself, but what do you guys think?

Louise
