Hi SoCal, and Congratulations on your 10th 'birthday' on here! You certainly deserve it!
This is great, SoCal! I have no idea where you came up with this concept about the phone ringing under the blanket, let alone it being her dead husband, but that's about as original as it gets. And then her kids? Too much!
You obviously put some thought into this before you wrote it, and I thank you for that. A lot of writers just start writing (unfortunately, I sometimes fall under that category) and end up with a story that doesn't really make any sense. You obvioulsy aren't one them (us?).
Perfect spelling and telling. And I love how you set the scene up: the reader doesn't need any more description to know where she works or what's going on.
Thanks for sharing this, SoCal. You did wonders for only 651 words!
