I'm JACE , and I have the honor of reading and reviewing your offering "In Search of Inspiration" .

I invite your attention to the comments below. Please bear in mind these notes are from one on the outside looking in; ultimately only you can decide what's right for your story.

*Note1*  Overall Impression. First, congratulations on making it to your sweet 16th year here at Writing.Com. That's a remarkable achievement, and I wish you the best on your continued writing journey.

Both your title and descriptions did their job. They drew me to your offering and enticed me to read further. This very subject has always interested me--does a prompt really help the creative process or should I just find inspiration on my own? All the official WDC contests use prompts, as do most other member-run contests. Yet I find myself entering those contests with no prompts more than the other.

That said, I've never really had trouble coming up with a topic about which to write. I think using the doe helped you overcome the obstacles in your mind freeing it to reach out to less troubled times, to allow it to roam freely. Our minds are our biggest obstacle--that mind rushes to and fro getting in the way of the free expression of creativity.

Basically we need to stop trying so hard for inspiration.

I liked you looking back to simpler days when cares were fewer. Who knows, perhaps the Merlot does help break down some of those inhibitions that blocks our natural free range of thoughts.

Of course, you don't really say--was this your prompt?

Picking up the wine bottle, I examined how much I had drunk. Not nearly enough to be seeing talking animals.
