Standing on your own
Standing, waiting, watching, hoping for a time of her own.
Waiting in the wings for her one true love freedom.
Like her it is illusive and hard to find.
She waits and dreams of better days but for her
they will never come.
She wakes each day to the dawn and sleeps at sunset on a bed of youthful regret.
She is a caged bird and grows older in her cage every day.
For her there is no release. She will never be free of the regret of her youth.
So alone she sings her song of youth past, love lost and many regrets. She knows her end will come now ever so slowly for her the clock turns. She yearns for the day she will be freed.
I guess she should have been more aware of what payment she will pay for her youthful greed. For that one deed has placed her here forever.
She sits in the solmn hall now awaiting her time of release.
As she and the priest walk slowly down the long dark, cold corridore she has but a moment to reflect and beg for forgivness, but for her it will never come.

In goes the liquid of death, now she sees what terrible thing it is that she has done with clear and open eyes.
Eyes that will be forever closed in but a moment now...sleep child for now your end is here. You shall not harm another, nor will you have the hunger for release. You are free.
