I have written this poem having visited the WWII graves at normandy
I remember them,
our soldiers,
lying in these graves
Who were once loved and lively,
but now cannot be saved.

I remember them,
our soldiers,
the burden they had born,
the daily fear and heartbreak,
their bodies broken, torn.

I remember them,
our soldiers,
and just before they died
all they could see was darkness
all they could hear were lies.

I remember them,
our soldiers,
Who are up amongst the stars,
where there is peace and quiet's
where the broken soldiers are.
