Beauty

I heard the grass singing that morning
Sighing, wet from dew.

Then I watched a plastic bag dance
To their melody
With the leaves surrounding it like
Ladies in waiting.

On the sidewalk
Laid a little bird freezing
Because it was the middle of winter
So I gave it my coat.

And down by the palor
Where the elm tree grows
I heard that old crying
Of a young girl.
