Poem about the plight of foster children
Little Boys and Little Girls
Some are black and some have curls
The same voice but different faces
Searching for love in dreary places.

Tears and bruises, bumps and scratches
Falling down but no one catches
Mother and Father, Goodbye and goodnight
Foreign expressions to those in plight.

Confusion is paining
Cautious but gaining
Hope is yet waning
Will it never stop raining?

Broken families and crushed hearts
No one knows their lines or parts
Hardened shells are seldom cracked
Symptoms of that love that lacked.

Some find strength, others can’t cope
Always searching after that vague hope
Few may find it, the rest are lost
Will we ever grasp the cost?

Confusion is paining,
Cautious but gaining,
Hope still waning,
Hasn’t stopped raining
