My husband always accuses me of not listening to him so I wrote this for him
Everything I hear
Is printed on my brain.
In a book with many pages
that starts out with my name.
But the binding on the book has broke
and all the pages tumbled
Now it takes awhile
To sort out all the jumble.
Don't tell me I don't listen
to everything you said.
It takes time to find the page
that's scattered in my head.
I picked up all the pages
and threw them in a stack.
No order to the numbers
so my brain I have to rack.
Sometimes its hard to find the page
With the words you want to hear.
It doesn't mean I don't know
The words are written clear.
The book was old and worn
so keeping with the times
I'm transcribing all he pages
to a computer in my mind.
The process may take a while
but soon I will be through
Putting words in the computer
Takes a while for me to do.
But one day I'll push a button
and tell you what you said.
Maybe then you'll understand
There's something in my head.
