Poem about losing someone.
Reflections of light ricochet from the rim
As your remembrance grows dim.
Shot after shot, I sink lower
Until my eyes say goodbye and my mind moves slower.
Recall always being honest
Just before I fall unconscious.

Call out to the darkness
Take me away from this.
Take me back
back to before
before I touched you
before I loved you
before I had you,
to lose.

Columns of light cascade across the ceiling
I'm upside down and my insides have an escaping feeling.
Stand up quick to face the door.
Go back down to one knee, and your memory paints the floor.
Stumbled my way outside, still halfway on my knees.
Fumble all the way down in my pocket, hard to find my keys.

Call out to the darkness.
Take me away from this.
Take me back.
back to before
before I touched you
before I loved you
before I had you,
to lose.

Beams of light blind my blurred vision
Swerving cars, can't keep me from my mission.
As the rains fall down, I remember just the way you smell.
Lose the wheel and there's a tree on my collision course with hell.
Nothing left to forget, nothing I can salvage.
Destiny brought me where I want to be, right next to this bridge.

Call out to the darkness
Take me away from this
Take me back
back to before
before I touched you
before I loved you
before I had you,
to lose.

Streams of light shimmer down from the surface
Close my mind just so I can see your face.
Stare off into the outstretched nothing
In the beginning, I didn't picture this ending
Now my last thoughts are filled with your eyes,
As I take open my lungs and breathe in your goodbyes.
