poem on life politics and war
Soldier Man

It comes with the winter breeze
When the chill buries everything in sight
Then solitude becomes a new bliss
Amidst all the hurt and sorrow
I reign, African soldier of war

Though alone at night I cringe
A little shiver, no one will see
Those small tears for those that don’t speak
Captives of the mechanized world,alone
For what I fight for knows no victory
My time draws in near sight.

I am at war but my enemy has no faces
The casualties are but a sad memory
Yet this is life, I am what I am
Me the soldier lost in the jungle
Dense and far from my beloved home

When the shelling stops, the silence
As dead as everything in sight
That winter chill sure kills everything
But from the ashes of death
My never ending war rages on.
