Cover-Up

Long sleeves
cover up
black and blue arms.
Jeans,
cover up
scratched legs.
A tear slowly caresses
her cheek,
leaving a line
of naked skin
under all her make-up.

Quickly,
she dries the shed tear,
letting out a sigh of pain
as her fingers touch
her blackening eye.
She mustn’t cry.
She mustn’t show
a trace of weakness.
In this place,
any flaw,
can bring pain.
Any unwanted noise,
can bring hells punishment.
A wrong move,
can bring
Death.
