This is a poem of heart break.
Does it take a lifetime to learn who you are?
Does it take a century to find out what could have been?
Does it take eons to learn where you are going?
Or to find out why you just couldn’t win?
Does it take years for the spirits to cry?
Does it take years to find out why?
Does it take years to live?
Does it take years to die?
Does it take the active hand of the lord?
Does it take years to dry the tears I have poured?
Does it take years to make the pain stay?
Does it take years for it to go away?
To live, do others have to die?
Is the world riddled with people asking why?
Is life precious?
Is life gold?
Is life warm?
Or is life cold?
Is there a way to live with only a part?
Do you live only to make your mark?
Do you begin at the end or at the start?
Or do you simply just depart?
Is life worth living?
Is life worth dying?
How can you stand when you’ve been destroyed?
How can good last when evil’s been deployed?
How do you mend when you’ve been broken?
How do you fight when God has spoken?
Is life precious?
Is life gold?
Is life warm?
Or is life cold…
