NOT EVERYONE LIVES IN CAMELOT.

I lived in my own little Camelot,
With my soulmate for forty-four years,
Not knowing the turmoil and anguish
Other women endured - and their tears.

I thought because I was happy,
That was what all marriages meant,
And couldn't see past the public facade
Into other married women's torment.

Call me naive, or an ostrich at best,
For sinking my head into dirt.
But after the love of my life had departed,
I discovered the pain and the hurt,

That many wives suffer at the hands of their mate,
And mostly through no fault of theirs,
And I feel so embarrassed to boast of my life
With no worries or problems or cares.

Of course we had tiffs like other folk do,
But always 'bout kids or no money.
By the time we were ready to retire for the night,
We'd kiss, and say fondly "Night Honey".

I just didn't know, or did not want to know,
'Cause you hid from my eyes all your pain.
May God look upon you, and bless you each one,
May you one day be happy again.
