Black Historical View
We

Who are they
to take our languages and strip us of our religion?
Who are they
to force us into slavery
and say that we are incapable
of upholding our own society?
Who are they
to say that we are unable
to read, write, speak, and decipher mathematics?
Who are they,
I say they are we and we are they.
My heart fails to beat
when I am hanging from a rope
with shackles upon my feet.
Do I not bleed
when flesh is strip
by a lash of a whip?
I say they are we and we are they
look upon me and you will see
that I come in the same image
as, He.
Who are they?
I say the they are
you, me and us.
