A simple poem about simple love at a young age
A bird

I never knew that clouds
Could be such a brilliant sight
The cloud-gray in your eyes
Love at this age
Is said to be a footnote
To the life ahead

A pampered patience we all once knew
Bedtime was early at night
At day we strove for the prize
Your heartfelt smile
Acts as a mirror
For heavenly grins from the skies

This word
Is a bird
That pushes its way
From between my lips
Let it settle, sweet dear
Let is sit in your nest
And coo soft comfort
Into your ear

I never knew that sunlight
Was a mere reflection of you
Of the joy that springs from your veins
Love at this age
Is said to last forever
However long forever may be
