I wrote this in Creative Writing. The idea was to personify an emotion.
Joy consumes your life.  He is quite different from his friend, Happiness.  Happiness rides the band wagon and is glad to be with you when you are having a good time, but Joy is different.  He stays with you wherever you go.  Even when Sadness and Depression threaten to invade, Joy sticks with you.  He is a lifelong friend.  He is a lifestyle.  He gets you through the bad times and the good times.  During the bad times he reminds you to be thankful, and during the good times he is ecstatic.  His presence can always vivify an awful day.  Joy isn't an emotion——he's a lifestyle.  At times he seems elusive.  So elusive, in fact, that some have never met him.  Those that have look upon those that haven't with Sympathy and Compassion——two of Joy's best friends.  The pity for those that haven't comes not from Joy, though.  It comes from Joy's twin brother: Love.  Like Joy, he is not selfish but sacrificial.  He never manipulates or forces you.  He does not boast, and his archenemy is pride.  He treats all the same, despite anything.  You can never hurt his feelings because they never change.  He is forgiving, and he never goes anywhere without Joy.
