a brief poem between a mother and her daughter
She asked her mother,
"Is the desert cold?"
Her mother did not reply.

She asked,
"Why did he go?"
Her mother did not reply.

She asked,
"Does he love me?"
"With all his heart," her mother replied.

She asked,
"Then why did he go?"
"To protect you," her mother replied.

She said,
"But i'm here."
"I know," her mother replied.

She asked,
"Who is he protecting me from?"
Her mother did not reply.

She asked,
"How do I know he loves me?"
"Because he says so," her mother replied.

She said,
"But that is not enough."
"I know," her mother replied.

The little girl cried,
and her mother held her close.
