A confessional poem.
My clay heart echoes a thud
the hollow floor
assaulted by boot heels

Brittle vessels pump out
a river of ash
deep and thick as guilt

My Pompei dream
wraiths cast in dull silver
polishing only makes them crumble
swallowed by the corpse-grey tongue
lapping at my sanity
