A poem written from a trapped perspective. Very open to interpretation.
Padded walls surround me
Soft white light that could drive a man insane
The world floods in around me
As I listen to the rain

It falls outside my window
I hear each drop splash onto the ground
I feel the earth pulling it down low
I sense the pain of those who've drowned

I can smell the rain through the walls
I taste the moisture in the air
The freedom of my old world calls
I dream of life out there

Why I am here, I do not remember now
Long years since I've felt raindrops upon my skin
My pulse is slowing and the light is getting brighter now
Soon I'll feel the rain again
My breaths come hard and far apart now
Yes, I am finally free and this is not the end
