A poem about not recognizing yourself.
Smooth complexion. Pink cheeks.

Full, soft lips. Dignified chin.

Overall it is a pleasing face.

Except for the eyes.

The eyes tell a story I don’t think I want to hear.

They are full of doubt and sadness.

They reveal fear and hurt.

What is the story behind those eyes?

Who is the person behind those eyes?

Why do they seem to hint at insanity?

Why do they scare me with their familiarity?

They seem to look right into me.

Analyzing and judging me.

Those eyes I seem to know.

Looking at me from the surface of the mirror.
