No Regrets

“Where are we going?!” she asked playfully. The clouds were starting to roll in, gaining speed with each mile.
“Is, would you chill? It’s a surprise!” Derek pulled Isabella across the parking lot towards his Avenger. She had been waiting for this night for a month. Today was her and Derek’s one year and she knew that he’d been planning this for awhile.
As they drove, he turned the music up full blast, not allowing easy conversation. She has a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she ignored it, thinking it was just butterflies. She didn’t notice the stern and confused look on his face, and how different he was acting. Instead of his usual outgoing and funny self, he was more withheld, and quiet. The sky was darkening quickly as they kept driving. Dark clouds took over the sky, killing the light and the sun.
“We’re here.” Derek said as he killed the engine. Is watched him in awe as he got out of the car. He had to turn slightly diagonal and duck to get his broad shoulders out. Derek was the jock; Varsity quarterback, and hockey captain. His strawberry-blonde hair whipped around his face and he let her out.
After only an hour in the park, the sky threatened to open up and pour. Halfway back to school, where Is’ car was parked, it started to lightly rain. By the time they arrived, it was raining harder.
“Walk me to my car?” she asked.
“Sure.” The tone of his voice alarmed her. It was mono-tone and unfeeling. They walked to her car in silence. He held his jacket above them to keep them dry.
“Is, we need to talk.” His voice was so soft, it was almost a whisper. His blue eyes were cold as they started into her brown ones. She knew what was coming, but she just couldn’t believe it.
“This year has been great, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t feel the same way for you anymore. I don’t have a single regret.” He turned and strode back to his car. Her auburn hair was matted against her skin, and her deep brown eyes brimmed with tears. He left her standing in the rain, the drops mixing with her tears, her heart shattered.
“No regrets,” she sighed.
