Imagining what my persecutors thought before deciding to cast me out of their petty group
Naive little fool
Don’t walk in the room glistening
Be plain, be boring
Selfish little fool
This place isn’t your stage
Sit down, be quiet

Am I happy
Acting this way?
Hiding what they
Cannot see
Will the love me now?
That will make me happy

Stupid little fool
You’ll never blend into their crowd
They always see right through you
Sorrowful fool
You know they hate you
Why don’t you just go away?
Cause they won’t change

Am I happy
Existing this way?
Becoming a victim
To unusual crimes
Will they leave me alone?
That will make me…

No, I’m not happy
That won’t make me happy
I’m burning in my own mind
Pain of the friends I long to have
Of the love I longed to feel
From God’s pure children
Far lighter than I
Won’t you help lift me?

Am I happy
Living this way?
Waiting for them to call me
And reach for my hand
I won’t wait any longer
So hold my hand

Am I happy?
